Welcome to Hot Type
Hello. Welcome to Hot Type Press. Thank you for taking the time to visit our publishing house.
Hot Type Press draws its name from the long history of the printing press, an invention that changed the course of history. In today’s digital world where content appears to be instantaneous and alternative formats readily available, it seems incomprehensible that letterpress printing invented by Johannes Gutenberg in the mid-15th century was the catalyst for advances in science, teaching and learning, in medicine, the arts, and journalism and its’ role as a foundation of democracy.
As a reader we hope you enjoy our books and short stories; publications that place an emphasis on progressive issues as catalysts of change in these uncertain days.
If you enjoy our publications please let us know and don’t hesitate to share your experiences with others. Thank you.
Lastly, we leave you with a link to In Farewell, the final day of the use of Linotype by the New York Times on 1 July 1978. This may be nerdy view of hot metal press work, but take a listen to the words of the operators and you’ll understand their dedication to their craft and the printed word.
